It is like unto a man's hand, whose fingers were accustomed to go naked. One day the next-to-last finger decided to wear a ring. The interpretation of this parable: One must be struck by a sense of the absurd when one hears of a Lutheran suddenly bolting from his long-time home church because the pastor saw fit to chant a piece of liturgy that had customarily been spoken.
