Ontological Tackiness

This week's lighted-sign message at the neighborhood ELCA hospice for the terminally tacky:

GOD DOES NOT QUESTION YOUR EXISTENCE.

The thing is, He actually could. He could end it, too. Meanwhile, isn't it a kind of poverty when the most encouraging and specific thing you can confess about God is that He exists?
