Parable of the Sourdough

To what shall I compare the kingdom of God?

It is like unto a woman who kept a sourdough culture living in a jar on her kitchen counter. Twice every week she added flour to it and stirred it around. Once a week she took some of this dough and used it to bake wholesome, delicious bread for her family.

Now and then, one of this woman's friends would hear about the fresh bread she was making, and would voice an interest in starting a sourdough culture of her own. So the woman would set aside a portion of her dough, not to bake, but to give to her friend. Then the woman's friend would also begin adding flour to, and baking portions from, her own live sourdough culture.

Let him hear who has ears to hear.
