Puppy Love!

Puppy Love!
by Sienna Mercer
Recommended Ages: 12+

I don't know who has it worse. Of the two Packer twins, teen werewolf Daniel isn't the one their dad expected to wolf out, and now that he has, he is unprepared to control his new powers – and his tendency to grow hair, claws and fangs when his emotions are stirred up. Meanwhile, non-werewolf twin Justin has to keep up with the junior high football team despite everyone else on the squad having lupine powers. Neither of them is ready to share his secret yet, but that means Justin takes a beating and runs himself ragged trying to get by on pure athleticism, while Daniel's self-control is tested by encounters with a musical rival, his crush on a pretty girl and his band's upcoming first gig at the homecoming dance.

There's plenty more teen-romance, sporty and rockin' to fill this thin chapter book. When the town's werewolves get together to run and howl, what do you do? Send your wolfy twin to mingle with the football squad, even though he doesn't know a punt from a field goal? Or try to phone in your howl – literally – and pretend that you don't feel like going wild and hairy? And then there's the businesses about stolen song lyrics, which might hit too close to what a boy feels about a girl, not to mention an emotionally fraught race for Homecoming Queen. It's almost enough to make you grow a fur coat.

Sienna Miller's tale of teen wolves in a town where lots of people are werewolves, but it's still a big secret, is full of plot complications, misunderstandings, ill-advised twin swaps and instances of boys being chronically unable to come right out and say what they feel. It's also funny and puts the storyline across the goal line.

This is the second of four "My Brother the Werewolf" books, following up on Cry Wolf! and continuing with Howl-oween! and Tail Spin. If you're into the travails of teenaged twins sharing a paranormal secret, you may also like Sienna Mercer's 18-book "My Sister the Vampire" series.
