Rein in the Tackiness

I saw it this evening, glowing from the ELCA church sign in my neighborhood:

GOD WANTS TO REIGN ON YOUR PARADE

The instant I read this message, a strange image flashed across my mental movie screen: God, with a long white beard, tarted up like a local beauty queen and waving (wrist, wrist, elbow, elbow) from a passing parade float. Hooee!! I just hope that, in all the hoopla, God doesn't trip on his sequined dress and get run over by the Shriners and their little buggies.
