According to Strong's notes, the name Ichabod means "inglorious." I reckon Peake's use of this word in his imagery of crumbled masonry is a reference to this departed glory.RobbieFishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14112535005437118728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7988509909991606880.post-57384277111091194282009-12-28T19:25:06.087-06:002009-12-28T19:25:06.087-06:00Thanks for making the effort, Nathaniel. Thanks for making the effort, Nathaniel.RobbieFishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14112535005437118728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7988509909991606880.post-599223339181176942009-12-28T19:05:17.212-06:002009-12-28T19:05:17.212-06:00I've been searching, and am unable to find a d...I've been searching, and am unable to find a definition of the word "julip" except as a misspelling of "julep". Perhaps it's a neologism of Peake's own design.nattyishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07808090812733723257noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7988509909991606880.post-34540488118992686042009-10-03T18:02:01.906-06:002009-10-03T18:02:01.906-06:00Thanks & you're welcome! Thanks & you're welcome!RobbieFishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14112535005437118728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7988509909991606880.post-60252526651594740672009-10-03T17:00:57.427-06:002009-10-03T17:00:57.427-06:00I have nothing constructive to add, except to note...I have nothing constructive to add, except to note that you successfully summarized and surpassed my own feelings about Mervyn Peake!
